Corey "Poop" Pope <cpope@ucdavis.edu>
Corey made his rugby debut for the UC Davis men's rugby club in 1996 and was part of the 1997 Final Four squad. During that time he helped start the current version of the UC Davis Women's Rugby Football Club. After moving to the Bay Area and attending a sprinkling of games over the years, Corey and his wife moved back to their favorite town, which opened the door up to coaching the forward pack again. Getting the chance to help the club continue to develop a strong rugby program at UC Davis, including making a run at a National Championship, provides the driving force behind Corey's return to the coaching arena. Along with the other coaches, Corey is "looking forward to a fantastic and competitive year of rugby, and also having a whole lot of fun along the way!"

Adrian Pitts <aepitts26_is@yahoo.com>
Adrian Pitts has been with the UC Davis Women’s Rugby Club on and off as a backline coach since 1997. Under several head coaches Adrian learned how to coach multiple different styles ranging from hard-hitting American rugby to contemporary southern hemisphere running rugby. This is Adrian’s second year as head coach of the club and he is looking forward to the challenge of continually improving player skills, confidence, and performance, while promoting academic excellence. His short-term goals include continuing to promote rugby skills development and improvement among the players, and to provide the team with the opportunity to return to the National Collegiate Division One Sweet 16 Tournament. Adrian’s long-term goals include developing the UC Davis Women’s Rugby Club into a perennial National Championship contending program. As a player, Adrian played scrumhalf, outside center, and fullback.

Captains for the 2006 Rugby Season
|
Forwards Captain
Amanda Terry
This is my fourth year playing rugby which I recently found out is longer than St. Mary's has had a rugby team (talk about feeling old). I started playing rugby because my dad played but now my inspiration to play comes from my teammates. I love being a part of a team that genuinely cares for each other and is so dedicated to working as a team to accomplish amazing goals. We play in one of the hardest leagues in the nation against two past national champion progams and our team is known for playing clean and giving 100 percent. In the 2003-2004 season out team made it to the Sweet Sixteens in Pennslyvania and ended the year ranked 14th in the nation. Our goal this season is to get back to Sweet Sixteens and to continue to build a solid program here at UC Davis. This year's team is probably the most well-balance team that I have played on, giving us the potential to come together to create upsets in playoffs. Don't ever count us out...

Former Coaches
Forwards:
Marc "Billy-Ray" Busch
Marc played rugby at UC Irvine, playing mostly tight head prop but in general the front row. However, he played some of the other forward positions on a as needed basis, and did some spot fill in games with men's club teams as well. He is currently a graduate student getting his PhD in microbiology. He started following the women's team in 1998 when a student he was TAing (Briggs) told me about him team., and has been following the team ever since. In 2003 he was recruited by fellow graduate student Debra Wadford (Waddy) to help coach the team. The reason he loves coaching is that it allows him to do two things: 1- to teach (his future profession), and 2- to still be a part of a game that he loves. His main goal is to give the players the knowledge and confidence to play this game so that they can play each game to the best of their ability and a complete unit so that they can truly appreciate the game, the cameradrie and a little bit of their college lives
Backs:
Rachelle Williams
After playing for 4 years at scrumhalf, flyhalf, inside and outside center for the Aggies, Rashelle is returning to help coach. She hopes to be able to pass down her experience from playing on this team to the new players just joining the club. She wants to help them learn the skills they need to play the game, but also to help them gain a love of the game. She has said, "This is a great organization playing a great game and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Captains of the 2005 season:
Forwards Captain
Stephanie (Boomer) Little
I was born and raised on a cattle ranch and hope to go into the family business. This is my fourth year of playing rugby and my hope for the team is that we go to playoffs, we have fun, and then we go to sweet sixteens again. My other hope is that by the end of the season all the rookies love this sport as much as the rest of us.
Backs Captain
Lizzy Schuh
Lizzy is a third year student at UC Davis and has been playing rugby since she arrived on campus. She is currently in Italy for the fall quarter of the 04-05 season but will be welcomed home in winter when season play begins.
