USA Rugby has eight territory area unions (TUs), Pacific Coast Rugby Football Union (PCRFU) being one of those eight. Each TU is comprised of local area unions (LAUs). The LAU' in PCRFU are Northern California Rugby Football Union, Pacific Northwest Rugby Football Union, Arizona Rugby Football Union, and Utah Rugby Football Union. UC Davis Women's Rugby competes in the Northern California Rugby Football Union (NCRFU).

UC Davis Women's Rugby Club is one of six Division I women's collegiate teams in the NCRFU. UCD competes against Stanford; University of California, Berkeley; Humboldt State University; California State University, Chico; and University of Nevada, Reno. UC Davis also engages in friendly matches against the Division II teams of NCRFU: Santa Clara University; University of California, Santa Cruz; California State University, Monterey Bay; and San Jose State University. NCRFU teams play for league standing within their own division.
